The engineering professions are constantly growing, which explains the fairly high volumes of recruitment. In fields such as urban planning, agri-food or electronics, engineering is a fundamental aspect.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ENGINEERING SECTOR

In its most general sense, engineering is defined as the set of services consisting of the study, design and execution of a work. Regardless of the specialization studied, engineers are highly sought-after profiles in several scientific, technical, economic and industrial sectors, and are at the heart of the profound changes taking place in the business world. But the market is short of talent, so much so that unemployment in the sector is three times lower than the national average. Secondly, engineers are present everywhere and we use their achievements every day, both professionally and for our personal needs. They are always thinking of new solutions to improve people’s lives, with new ideas that they turn into projects. Engineering is responsible for the technological solutions we interact with all day long. It manages projects from A to Z, analyzes, designs and builds the works, equipment, products or facilities that are part of our daily lives. It is a sector of the future with several specializations: health, agronomy, environment, systems and networks, computer science, civil engineering…

INDUSTRY AND ENGINEERING

The diversity of sectors (aeronautics, space, automotive, railways, energy, etc.) combined with the diversity of functions (design office, projects, production, quality, maintenance, r&d, etc.) offers a multitude of possibilities and varied professional orientations. Anyone with a technical background can work in the industry in positions that call on a variety of skills and allow them to gain experience in expertise, management, project management, and even sales and finance. With the emergence of connected objects, the convergence of technologies and the creation of digital factories, the world of industry is currently in a state of flux and is a rich environment for engineers and technical profiles.

HOW TO BECOME AN ENGINEER?

To become an engineer, technological expertise and a high level of scientific and mathematical training are essential. In any case, to become an engineer, you must be motivated by the thought process and long and technical studies. Engineers are pure scientists. Generally, people who enter engineering schools have a baccalaureate (Bac S) or have passed a scientific preparatory class. There are also integrated preparatory courses that allow students to enter an engineering school directly after the baccalauréat while taking preparatory courses. Approximately 75 schools (out of nearly 220) offer this option. For those who want to become engineers, there are those who know exactly what field they want to specialize in and those who want to become general engineers.
